Whoo Hoo! March 28, 2011

Friday I have to admit that I only did a mile because it was an observation week for Coen and Cora’s swim lessons and I wanted to see how they were doing.  I did however do it at a 6.5mph pace.

On to tonight!  I did my 4 mile run and did it in about 50 minutes.  So it’s official . . .  I can crawl the last mile if needed.  I did notice I was tired and 2.5 miles and had to really keep thinking, “I can do this.”  By 3.5 miles I felt pretty good again.  As I type my knees hurt (that’s a first).  Hmm.  I’m happy with tonight’s run.  Two weeks until race day 🙂

Just realized the last two Wednesdays I was supposed to do 3 miles 😦

Past Week

Hmm, lets see.  I’ll be honest I’ve mostly been doing just the runs as things have been busy.  So here’s what’s been up.

Last Tuesday (15th) – I did 25 minutes on the bike.

Last Wednesday (16th) – 2.5 miles run

Last Friday (18th) – 2 miles run

This Monday (21st) – 3.8 miles (due to running after dark I didn’t run along the lake, I tried to make up the difference be estimating how much I had to make up and missed by about 2 blocks).  I COULD have finished the whole 4 miles which made that frustrating!

Tuesday (22nd) – Matt’s car was in the shop so no swim class for Cole and that meant no workout for me.

Wednesday (23rd) – A pretty easy 2.5 miles.  I even spead up the last 1/4 mile to a pace of 6.5 just to see if I could do it 🙂  I did it!

Thursday – just plain lazy so didn’t do an Active2 workout.

Friday – I should have no trouble doing the 2 miles tonight while the older two are swimming and C3 is playing at the ‘Maze.

About two weeks left.  I’m thinking I can do this because even IF I pooped out at 4 miles I’d have over a half hour to crawl the last mile 🙂

 

Finally an update! March 14, 2011

I have to admit that the reason I haven’t updated is because I was very discouraged by Wednesday’s run.  It was supposed to be 2.5 miles.  I could hardly make it running to 1 mile and did a lot of walking on mile two before I quit.  My foot kept tingling and I was tired.  It was NOT a good workout 😦

Thursday I was still discouraged and had a lot to do around the house so I neglected to do a workout at all.

Friday was much better.  I did my 2 mile run without any trouble and enjoyed it.

Saturday is my day off.  We took some things to the storage locker and then went to Steak and Shake withe my parents.  Then we headed to Klein Creek farm where we learned about maple syrup, black smiths, barn raising, and we got to see some new lambs.  It was cold but we had a good time.

NOW for today.  I was supposed to run 3.5 miles.  And . . .  I did it!  It really wasn’t too bad (except that my Ipod froze near the end and I think I bruised my toe).  I might actually be able to complete the 8K, is seemed doable today!  Because the Ipod froze I have no real idea of how fast I ran, but I’m guessing it was around 40-45 minutes.  It may have even been less if the last 3/4 of a mile or so I kept up my pace.

 

I HATE the Bike! March 8, 2011

The title says it all.  I did my 35 minutes of cross training today, but really did not enjoy it.  I’d rather run I think.  Oh well, it’s done and it will hopefully help me in the long run (pun intended).  🙂

Note:  It was a stationary bike at the Y.  Regular bike riding I do NOT hate.

 

The Long Run March 7, 2011

Well, due to cleaning duties for the potential move and upcoming listing the long run had to be done this morning.  We got to the Y at about 10:30 and had to wait 15 minutes before they had room for all three kids (since there was no school today).

I got on the treadmill thinking I’d make it 1 mile at 5.5mph and then downgrade to 5mph for the second mile and then see what happened with the third mile.  They I thought, “It would be really nice to do this if 40 minutes.”

At about a mile I decided to try and keep at the 5.5mph pace until 1.5 miles.   I hit that and decided to go to 2 miles a the same pace.  By two miles, I though maybe I’ll make it to 2.5?

Well, I’m proud to say  I made the whole 3 miles at the 5.5mph pace and it didn’t feel too bad.  Sweaty, but not bad.  So, I finished 3 miles in under 33 minutes 🙂  Feeling pretty good about it even IF it was on the treadmill.

Here’s to hoping 2.5miles on Wednesday seems short! 😉

 

Thursday Update March 3, 2011

Well, here it goes:

Monday – slacked off and took a rest day.

Tuesday – Did 27 minutes on the bike at the Y.

Wednesday – Did 1 mile at 5.5mph and 1.5 at 5mph.  Not too shabby and quicker than the Sunday run 🙂

Thursday – slacked off again and did 22 minutes of Active 2 instead of 40.  Maybe I’ll do another 20 later even though it’s not the same as a full 40 at once.

Tomorrow will be my short run of 2 miles.  Here’s to hoping it feel short 🙂
